If we are already facing some problem in life and are very keen to find a solution, then why quit before finding a solution and being rewarded for pursuing it, by way of achieving something in life?

An ordinary person may quit under such circumstances but an extraordinary person won’t because he will look at things from a different angle. He will know that all these hardships and agony are worthwhile as long as we are proceeding in the right direction to achieve our end results.

Moreover, by giving it everything we have for any particular purpose close to our heart, it will eventually make us a kind of person who can achieve any goal. Therefore it is who we become through that process is more important. We become extraordinary only by going through certain process.

There is a saying that God places the best things in life on the other side of pain and fear. We should be prepared and should make all our efforts to cultivate this mindset, if we ever want to enjoy the journey of our life. Such situations in life prepare us better to finish some unfulfilled desire that has always been close to our heart. Therefore, it makes no sense to quit in the midway.

Only through an unruffled, joyful, determined mind with focus and hard disciplined work, that we can achieve what we want in life. After all, life is ten percent what happens to us and ninety percent how we respond to it. Thus our way of perceiving life situations is to see it as an opportunity to improve upon it, the way we want. We have to be extraordinary in both our thinking and in our action.

Generally whenever we get overwhelmed with too many things to do to fix our problems, we tend to give up for the fear of being totally incapable of tackling such a giant task.

Pareto Principle

But please wait before taking any such awful drastic and self sabotaging decision. The solution to this predicament is to simply follow the ‘Pareto Principle’. In other words, it is the 80:20 rule by which we mean that we must find out those critically important must-do 20% tasks, that will give us extraordinary 80% results.

We should actually work out a short list of key activities that we can can start working on that we can easily manage, rather than getting overwhelmed.

Once we put down such critical activities in the form of a list with priorities attached to each, we would not only get more clarity but will also feel like taking prompt action, for one task at a time, preferably within a time bound schedule to keep a track of our progress.

We can further break down each task in sizeable chunks that we can manage well, and completion of each sub-task will motivate us further to go on and complete the rest of the task. Each such small win will fill our heart with joy and a sense of accomplishment.

Contemplation

We must also take occasional breaks in order to contemplate on whatever we have been doing and if necessary, we can reorient our priorities to become more effective and more productive. This way we can escape the rat race and do things differently to get the same result with less effort and pain, unlike other ordinary guys who may easily get frustrated with continuous struggle.

There is one stark difference in character between quitters and winners. The quitters quit even after making some extraordinary efforts for some period of time, the winners or the extraordinary people make extraordinary efforts over a long period of time and then even sustain their extraordinary efforts till they reach their goal.

We should follow a simple routine with phenomenal results! We need to just develop a habit of writing our immediate goals in life, in present tense, as if we have already achieved them!

The two-minute exercise

We need to spare just two minutes each time, once after getting up from bed and another time, just before going to bed. Initially, it may sound silly. But if we make this exercise our daily routine and feel the thrill of achieving our desired goals while writing the same (let it be a make-believe game), we would be pleasantly surprised to find how quickly and how easily we are achieving our goals. Needless to say, subconsciously, we would be driven towards all such activities that will help us achieve our goals.
